APIYO LUCY

A Mother’s Courage: Lucy’s first Step to Literacy Meet Lucy Apio—a devoted mother who she didn’t had the privilege of learning at an early age due to unrest that took place in northern Uganda, but that didn’t hinder her with determination to learn she enrolled for Functional adult literacy class. With her baby gently resting in her arms, Lucy stood up in class and walked to the blackboard demonstrating to her fellow learners that she can write. With courage and a steady hand, she wrote her name for the very first time—a simple act that spoke volumes. Through NUFOBO’s FAL program, Lucy did not only gained knowledge she’s creating a legacy. Her story is a powerful reminder that education has no age limit and no excuse too great to hold you back.
